The Battlefield Is You!

by Zen Gardner

There’s no looking for crowd validation. There’s no waiting for outside redemption. There’s no collective bargaining to rely on.

The awakening is you. Only you.

That’s what all this ruckus is about. The battle for your spirit and soul. And that’s the boat each of us is in. There is nothing more important in this life for you, or me, than waking up. Once that’s straightened out the rest will follow.

How we perceive the world around us creates and reinforces the world around us. Once we become conscious and aware that this existing matrix we’re witnessing is an arbitrary creation manipulated by power-crazed puppeteers, however you perceive them, that is when the change happens.

And the Universe will tell you what to do from there.

That’s what to respond to. Nothing else. That’s your job. That’s my job. Don’t shirk it when it happens.

Enjoy Your Earthly Suit, But Rediscover Who You Truly Are

Like me, you are sitting inside, or somewhat near anyway, the body you chose to be in. We’re looking through and freely operating these amazing biological machines on a fabulous planet. And, “Wow, there appears to be a whole lot of other beings like me walking around! Where am I? What am I here for? And what am I supposed to do?”

I know, jumped off the deep end there, but that’s exactly our predicament. And what immediately sets in once we arrive? As young children we have this abandon as we experience this incredible place and all its feelings, sights and sounds. We screech with delight, sing made up songs, swing our arms around wildly, and run in place. We just express!

Then what happens? We start to conform to what we’re seeing, as well as what we’re being told. We become more regimented and are herded into classrooms and categories. We start feeling social pressures and are then handed this fundamental doctrine of insecurity where fear and scarcity become our main drivers. Your purpose in life now is to “fit in and get a job” so you won’t run out of money or food. Your internal, conscious response? “This is strange. Everything’s a problem here. Sure didn’t feel that way when I arrived.”

The Illusory Attachment Trap

The main trick of the illusory world around us is to make us think we’re somehow attached to it, and therefore dependent, and that we need to conform to this world we’re viewing. We tend to judge by the standards we’re exposed to, and act accordingly. We base our lives and actions around these perceived behavior patterns, which in turn gradually dull the voice of conscious awareness.

You might have noticed how blind people, such as entertainers Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder, gesticulate totally freely, rocking their heads while singing or talking, and have wildly free facial expressions, almost as if they’re handicapped.

Obviously they’re not. But it strikes you. They’re free from visual conformity. They don’t know how everyone else acts. They’re free to physically express their emotions without having to conform to the suppressed, fearful conformist nature of our hung up society. They don’t know you don’t rock back and forth, shake your head and smile so broad your face almost cracks. How liberating!

And that principle can be applied across the board.

We judge so much by how we think it will measure up to the world around us rather than just express what we’re thinking and feeling openly. Whether with close friends and family, our peer group, or the message we pick up in public or from the media, we’re being programmed. Programmed to not respond to obvious needs, but to strange, shallow self-serving impulses.

Just like everyone else.

You can say that’s just natural, but it’s not. It’s induced behavior from a manipulated and self-regulating created collective. Natural for the matrix, but not for a conscious human being, especially when the crowd is clearly going the wrong way. But who’s looking when you’re sleep walking.

The Cost of Vicarious Living and Beyond

In the end most humans end up living a vicarious life, acting out the projection they think they’re supposed to live up to. That’s bondage. The yardstick is acceptance rather than truth or conscience. This is heavily reinforced through education, the media and the existing paradigm they’ve succeeded in creating. It appears to be the only option out there…but only to the unawakened.

But there’s a price to pay.

Everything. Waking up costs everything. So what? What are you saving up for? Aren’t you paying that price anyway even if you’re not waking up? Life always costs everything. You’ll leave here eventually, like me, and the cost will be your life. How did you spend it? Consciously, or trying to conform, and using that to hide behind to justify living as a comfortable, selfish, lazy brain donor to the system you’re too afraid to buck?

That’s the battlefield. You. Me. It goes no further. What we see playing out in the world is a bunch of you’s and me’s deciding if they’ll live consciously and truly respond to that still, small voice within them, or not. The sad reality is almost every one of them has been duped into being fixated on what all the other “me’s” are doing in order to keep up with the projected reality. It’s like a school of fish feverishly clinging together in response to a perceived predator.

The only thing is, for conscious, spiritual reality there is no predator. That’s the secret. We are eternal consciousness having an experience. The way to solve these problems is to re-create the perceived reality through conscious awareness and conscious actions.

When You Get the Call, Take It!

We, individually, have to change first. We have to commit to consciousness, get free of entanglements and live a conscious life. The rest has little meaning until we get out of the matrix ourselves.

If each of us would get that message the phony world structure would crumble in a minute. Every soldier would drop his weapon and go home. Every politician would wake up as if out of a dream and go be with his family. Every policeman would lay down his gun, take off his uniform, and go help someone in need, smiling and greeting people on his way.

It’s you. It’s me. Your personal world and experience is the only one you’ll ever know. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Just let consciousness be your guide. But act on it.

And don’t fret too much about what it is you’re supposed to do. You’ll know it when you see it. It comes in the form of little things, little decisions, the rest follows. Learn to listen to that voice and act accordingly and it gets louder and louder.

Just walk away from what you know to be wrong, and do what you know to be right. It’s not that hard once you start. And again, once you get your boat in motion, the rudder will take effect.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”  Lao Tzu

…Now go for it.  I can’t wait to hear about it!

Love, Zen

P.S. I was honored to have the amazing Snordelhans of Heretic Productions produce the following gorgeous piece. Be sure to give it a look. It’s shortened with just selected excerpts but it’s beautifully done. Enjoy. Go above or  HERE

  1. Zen, great video – but even without the vid, the words stand alone.
I left this response to one despairing commentator on the youtube vid:
‘It sounds like you’re at that painful but ultimately liberating break with all you once held as real and true. It can be shattering to discover that it was all a? manipulation and that in fact you have been held prisoner. But, there is a community out there of awakened and awakening souls – this truly is an amazing time. Can I suggest a visit to Zen Gardners wonderful site (he wrote this piece, and has written many more great pieces); read the comments on every post. Peace.’

  2. Another great, thought provoking wake up call. Someone in a previous post suggested you put a collection of your writings in a book; I agree!

    • I concur. As an author ( booksbyoliver.com ) I read these words of wisdom. They are thought provoking writings here and should be put into a book. It could be titled “Lost Wisdom”.

  3. Zen,
I have to thank you again for all you’ve given me and helped me with. Just a few short months ago I was reading political websites and watching reality TV, all the while being completely miserable of course. I’ve been the square peg in the round hole my whole life and always sensed there was more. But at this point in time it is truly miraculous where I’ve been led.
What an awesome video and message. I came in from star-gazing to find this. We are finally having clear skies where I live for the first time in a long while. And I am seeing everything differently now. Or maybe like Snordelhans said “the awakening is you”. This post just swept me like a wave into a presence that I’ve been feeling and it feels great.

  4. Dear Zen, your words are inspiring, they get right through!

I thank you for every mind you reached with them, for every heart you opened with them!

And yes, compiling your writings in a book would be a fantastic idea!

    Peace.

  5. Zen, with every fiber in my being, I thank you for this! Timely and Perfect!! I am truly inspired and thoughts are swirling about what I need and must do to do to push through the the layers of falsity.

  6. So true Zen!

It is truly an inspiration to come to this site and gobble up some more spiritual sustenance. I am only one, but you are reaching so many others…what a marvelous place you have found yourself in.

    Keep ‘em comin’ my man!

  7. thanks for answering my questions posed in the last post :)

that was an intensely powerful video, a testament to how beauty is a much more powerful magnet than fear (and its siblings).

you’ve hit on something very poignant in this essay, methinks. the eye has been the dominant sensory apparatus for humans living within western civilization for millenia. as such, it has been the primary tool for control (e.g. the all-seeing eye, the evil eye, the TV, “if you see something say something”). what is interesting now is that the effectiveness of that tool is breaking down as people are understanding how the image can be manipulated by them being able to peek behind the magician’s cape (e.g. the subversive use of photoshop. final cut pro, etc). thus, people are beginning to question everything they see or read, even if they are not consciously aware of them doing so, and thus the power of the “magic” is diminished.

unfortunately, most have yet to learn how to supplement that loss of the dependency of “visual certainty” with the enhancement of other sensory perceptions, including and especially the senses that most have yet to realize do exist within themselves.

thus, we “see” the rise of cynicism, despondency, hopelessness, fatalism filling the gaps in the human brain, all of which play right into the hands of those who seek to maintain and consolidate control since it is straight into the abyss where they wish to take us.

in our collective quest to free ourselves from the “Matrix”, we must be vigilant not to fall right into the traps that have been already laid all along the road of awakening. perhaps this can best be accomplished by training ourselves to develop “sight” within sight, rather than simply rejecting sight itself.

just some crazy random thoughts to chew on…

  8. Nice Zen you surely have your finger on our minds pulse(soul) I’m sure that many people from around the globe that happen to have contacted this site will come back to it for the simple reason that you are able to strike a pleasant sounding chord that is in us all.I have always hoped that the people that are awake would come out in the masses to show themselves has one united voice but we just needed a catalyst. Maybe you and this site is that. Can’t wait for your book by the way

    Cheers

  9. Zen,
With all the articles about Fear, perhaps it is time to investigate it a litle further.

I found an article in Newsweek that caught my attention. It was about a neurosurgeon called Dr Eben Alexander who’s neo cortex was inactivated for seven days. He was in a coma and not expected to recover. He did and this is what he said.

‘Although I considered myself a faithful Christian, I was so more in name than in actual belief. I didn’t begrudge those who wanted to believe that Jesus was more than simply a good man who had suffered at the hands of the world. I sympathized deeply with those who wanted to believe that there was a God somewhere out there who loved us unconditionally. In fact, I envied such people the security that those beliefs no doubt provided. But as a scientist, I simply knew better than to believe them myself.
In the fall of 2008, however, after seven days in a coma during which the human part of my brain, the neocortex, was inactivated, I experienced something so profound that it gave me a scientific reason to believe in consciousness after death.’

If you read the article, you’ll see that Dr Alexander felt no FEAR. That is because Fear only exists within the third dimension.
What I am getting at is that the neo-cortex is responsible for our ego centred consciousness and creates the duality that we find ourselves in today. It is the seat of FEAR and it was not part of our original state. Some people think that the installation of the neo-cortex was an upgrade. Some god trying to make man more intelligent! Ha! Ha!

Also I believe that in our true state on the Earth plane we were hermaphrodite. This ‘god’ split the sexes. ‘Male and female he created them.’ That created duality male/female, up/down, love/hate.

The separate reality of the third dimension [our world] is a fear based programme that was deliberately introduced by adding the neo cortex to an already perfect being. Making spiritual beings, conscious of themselves in an animal body with all its desires. The I, the me, and mine!
Fear is part of our being only in this third dimesnion.
When we realise that at the core of being all life is One, and we begin to see the lie of separation and exploitation for what it really is, then we are moving away from Fear into LOVE. From the third density into higher planes of being.
This world is an illusion. Our bodies are an illusion too, but that gets a bit deep for most of us.
I have a round table in my house and for me it symbolizes the world of everyday walk of life, with its pain and misery.
I sit in a chair outside the table and view it from a different perspective. Being part of the world but not in it. I know I am at core, an eternal love filled being, as we all are.

This is the crux of our investigation. Know this world for what it really is. A separate reality constructed by a bunch of insane beings for their own ends. These creatures live on our fearful emotions.

Do what you can everyday to make this hell a better place. Love everything. Watch your words and turn your face to the eternal light of our true CREATOR. The being of infinite love.
And remember this, Fear is the only weapon they have.
Now you know that fear is a programme for the domination of human souls, next time your are frightened, make a point bring that to your mind. It really puts fear in a different perspective.
    Now you have a choice.
It’s not easy, it takes practice and prayer. But there is a light at the end of our dark tunnel.

Zen, Keep up the brilliant work. You are a true messenger from the Heart field.

    Much Love to all.528hz.
    Elva.

  10. Zen, I have been lurking on your site for months, always looking forward to what you have to say. Thanks for this timely post. It couldn’t come at a better time. Since this is my first post, I’ll keep it short and sweet. Thanks again!

    • Tracy don’t worry about lurking, I do it quite a lot, when the urge strikes or the article compels me to comment, I do. I especially enjoy the comment section, I have learned a great deal of knowledge and hope actually that there are more people awake than we have been led to believe or imagine. This site is a “Zensend” for wisdom, comtemplation, inspiration, companionship and most important of all, Love.

It is a truly lovely place where we are free just to “Be”.

      Joy and Love to All,
      Firequeen

  11. Thank you Zen.Wow, this was an amazing timely article for me today. I’m going through an awakening transistion. This process can be sometimes daunting and lonely since I still question and wonder about the old ways of thinking…

  12. All of this can only apply to those with ears that hear and eyes that see. Don’t waste your valuable energy on those who can ONLY respond to “peer pressure”. They are no different than the dark entity which manipulates them, and they are most people you will encounter. Sure, overcome it within yourself if the Truth is within YOU, but don’t go around believing everyone will or even that everyone CAN do this. Only a small minority of humans actually can do this, and only a small minority of them actually will, it would now seem.. Face the evil within and conquer it, sure, but don’t deny the metaphysical source and will behind the evil OUTSIDE YOU and that includes THE BODY. If you still cling to and cherish your BODY which is a TORTURE INSTRUMENT AGAINST YOUR SOUL, then you are simply and flatly NOT AWAKE. Odds are that at this point, if you still cherish this putrid corpse, then you don’t have a Self which can viably awaken to an identity beyond it either. I’d caution against teaching people that their hostile, spiritually damaging corpse-prisons are worth enjoying. Better to say they are well-advised to objectify and distance themselves from their bodies except to the minimal amount of energy and attention required to keep them healthy and functional and well-enough presentable to give back Caesar his little due. More importantly, give back the True Divine Self ITS DUE! There is no beauty in this world which is not a perverse corruption of the True Beauty and Glory that was WASTED trying to teach the Evil Mind to accept correction. That phase is long over. The Dread Judge comes, and he doesn’t condone preoccupations with this world’s superficial beauty and endemically corrupt bodies.

  13. Thanks, Zen, you’ve hit it again, and Elva, well-said. Remember the line, “If it feels good, do it”? That line used to really worry me as I was afraid it would encourage some not-so-good actions because what felt good to some definitely did not feel good to others, but I do believe we’re almost there when we will be able to “do it” because it feels good! For us and for All. Love, A.

  14. True word’s indeed Elva . We do live in a fear based society, and our dualistic view of the world is illusory. The only thing that truly exists is unconditional love and the only thing that separates us from all that is ,was and ever shall be ,(our Creator) is us . So don’t just think about love, do it !!! Manifest it in every way possible forgive, be thankful, joyful and realise you are eternal, a child of the Universal Creator made in the image of the Creator. One day we will all be able to look into the face of our brother and sister and see the face of God looking back at us and realise i am you and you are me and our separateness is merely illusion .

  15. The older I get the more I realize the importance of words, intent, and individual action. “They” wish to control the masses. But they also are well aware that the individual is the prize. I, for one, am doing everything I can do to prevent the manipulation of “me”. It is a relentless assault. Thanks for your great work.

  16. I have watch the video a number of times, and would like to watch it a lot more times, but unfortunately it seems to be unavailable everywhere online, including your website. Is this just me because I’m based in Vietnam or is there a problem with keeping it up online? I would love see it again, and again

    • His site was banned on youtube…I’ll see if he can put it up again on his new channel. Go to youtube and look for snordster. Cheers!

  17. No being is “sitting in or near” their body. That is another illusion.

Each being is actively manifesting their physical body as one expression of their SELF

  18. SELF/SOUL is always completely “SELF-serving.” It holds the awareness that all SELF/SOULs are equally as free and powerful. It is an attack on self to use the term “self-serving” to mean “attempting to control others.” And even in that use its negative connotations are due to the precepts of religions that view SELF/SOUL as unconnected to “God” “God” is thought as an entity that good people serve.

Part of remembering one’s freedom is to investigate the phrases and words one uses.
